Triangle X Main House

The "Main House" at Triangle X Dude Ranch in 1927

85 Years!!

As one of the original dude ranches in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, Triangle X Ranch is celebrating its 85th anniversary.

In 1926 John S. Turner and wife Maytie decided to move their family from Morgan, Utah to the beautiful Jackson Hole Valley. Purchasing two homesteads, in what has to be one of the most spectacular settings the valley, the Turners broke ground on the first building to be constructed at the ranch. With failed aspirations of becoming potato farmers, the Turners started hosting Jackson Hole visitors and big-game hunters. One thing lead to the next and the Triangle X Dude Ranch was born. Now, 85 years later, five generations of Turners have called or are still calling the ranch, home.  The Turners continue to hold true to their heritage and share their love for the western way of life.

So…………………

Dust off your hats and shine up your boots, because On Saturday, June 11 Triangle X will host a party to celebrate 85 years – a special thanks to our guests, friends and the Jackson Hole community.

Jackson Hole is one of the best places in the country to view wildlife. In the winter deep snow forces many of these animals off their summer range to lower elevations.

One such animal is the Elk. Jackson Hole is home to one of the largest elk herds in the world. In the fall as the snow starts to pile up, elk migrate long distances to their winter range. Thousands of the wapiti in the Jackson Hole Elk Herd make their way to the National Elk Refuge – just north of the town of Jackson. Here they are fed alfalfa pellets from about January to April. This feeding program is vital to the survival of a large percentage of these elk.

Visiting the elk refuge during the winter is a great experience and a lot of fun. We were given the opportunity to take a tour of the refuge the other morning while they were out feeding the elk. Enjoy this short video, showing our morning on the National Elk Refuge. Elk on the National Elk Refuge – Jackson Hole
